If Google and Facebook 'Steal' User Data, What's Up?

Issues about user privacy that hit internet companies like Google and Facebook seem to continue. Many people do not just believe that many internet companies that maintain good data user. But if yes they are stealing data users, what is it for?

When we register on the internet company service, either create an account on Google, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Path or Yahoo !, of course we will be given a check option where we are 'forced' to agree on the terms and conditions applicable. This check box is usually located at the bottom after the form of personal data we fill. Why are we like being forced? Because if we do not tick it, then we can not enjoy the services of the company.Fair enough?

The problem then occurs when most of us, never really seriously to read the 'terms and conditions apply' it. We want to quickly use the service. Then click on the checkbox, the contents of the verification code, and the list.Then we are directed to the data field for a more profound profile again. Usually signified with 'your profile is almost done'. And when our user profile on an internet service site is done, actually what has become a privacy issue is just getting started.

Privacy Issues

A privacy issue that I know initially only deals with email data or usernames and passwords to login. It turns out the privacy issue is further than that. And even, when it comes to username and password, the case is no longer aprivacy issue, but it's already hacking. Because when not hacking, then the service provider company will lose credibility when giving username and password on the other party.

In Facebook annotations, user privacy includes data used when registering, what content is shared, and what messages are received and sent. Three things that are also used as a reference in preparing a new Facebook algorithm. Facebook can indeed make users manage privacy even more tightly, but the user data still held by Facebook.

More or less the same thing is done by Google. Giants from Mountain View, California, USA is more use of search history of its users. Google notes what sites are read by these users, and then their traces (cookies) are collected and form Google 'readings' on it. And of course the data used when first registering will be used for that reading.

Personal data is filled in when registering first, interaction track record and keywords and search results, where ever visited when our GPS is active, even to anyone who communicates will be recorded in the data base of the service company.And unfortunately, I never read the terms and conditions of the services available. In fact I did not take much care when the data was taken. It's not important anyway.But for whom you may concern, if the data was used (read: stolen) by Google, Facebook, Twitter, and others, what is it used for?


Target Ad and Right Target Ads

What needs to be explained first is why is there a user data theft term in this privacy issue? This should be returned to the applicable law where the companies are legally registered. They are mostly in the United States. In this land of Uncle Sam, everything must be transparent.

For example the current case, Consumer Watchdog and the Privacy Rights Clearinghouse have sued Google for the FTC, a kind of consumer protection agency in the US.By both NGOs, Google is accused of not being transparent in collecting user data. Because, Google does not provide an explanation if the user data collected is used as a 'proposal' to the advertiser.

The above mentioned personal data, in addition to being tailored to the Google search engine algorithm, is also provided to advertisers listed on Google Adwords.Briefly, Google makes use of this data for commercial purposes.Well, if commercial, Google should say from the beginning, so there is a clear profit sharing between Google and its users. Maybe that's it.


Because with this targeting, Google has successfully added USD 19.1 Billion from the line of advertising in the second quarter of 2016 or up USD 3 Billion compared to the overall revenue of 2015. And this is also the majority income earned by Alphabet, Google's parent company, the ' only 'earned USD 21 billion overall in the second quarter.

Facebook is not much different.They create a kind of algorithm that allows anyone to pay for more and more effective coverage.Is this an ad? Of course.If in Google there is Adwords, then on Facebook there is Facebook Ads.

In the case of traditional banner ads, the site owner simply attaches his client's ads in the available columns. So this ad will appear anywhere regardless of age, gender,interaction, residence, favorite sports club, even the political references of the visitors. It's not targeted, and ofcourse the likelihood of the ad being acted upon will be small.

Yes, in contrast to the ads in the advertising ecosystem of internet companies mentioned above. If they put an ad in the publisher, of course, on the basis of consideration of the data earlier. Everything is customized on behalf of the algorithm. So our data it, can be used to determine the targeting of ads by clients of internet companies earlier.Whether the data was stolen or not, is sometimes debatable.

Solution

On the internet, again, there is no truly reliable solution. That means there is no way that really can be done to ward off 'theft' user data earlier.Because we put the data, we also agree on terms and conditions, then what else? Well, my advice is just to be careful on the internet.Periodically clean your browser's cookies and browser history. Never upload privacy anywhere.Unless we do have the talent to be exhibitionists
